Cross-country winter storm could crush Minneapolis snowfall recordThe storm will journey across a 2,600-mile-long stretch of the U.S. and spread heavy snowfall as well as an icy mix which could lead to dangerous travel conditions. Winter storm warnings were in place across the Pacific Northwest and parts of the Rockies Monday, while winter storm watches extended from parts of Wyoming to western Wisconsin. "There is a high probability that Minneapolis will pick up 18 inches of snow or more from the storm," AccuWeather Meteorologist Matt Benz said. "The February record of 13.8 inches of snow from a single storm is likely to be smashed." In the Northeast, the snow, ice and rain zones are likely to be more spread out to the north and south.
