Judge delays start of Trump's New York hush money trial

March 16, 2024

The judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's New York hush money case has delayed the start of the trial from its original March 25 start date, due to discovery issues raised by the defense. "Trial on this matter is adjourned for 30 days from the date of this letter," Judge Juan Merchan wrote Friday, which would push the new trial date to mid-April. The judge scheduled a hearing for March 25 to address the discovery concerns. Lawyers for Trump were seeking to delay the start of the trial in order to allow them to review tens of thousands of pages of potential evidence recently disclosed by the Justice Department.
